Team Stellar Officers and Advisors:

Stjepan Bedić - Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

CEO and Mission Control Division leader

As an aviation enthusiast, Stjepan was involved in aviation as a member of local aeroclubs since an early age. Determined by the desire to turn his passion for aviation into his life calling, Stjepan finished the Tehničko Veleučilište in Zagreb, Croatia, to become a professional pilot and an aeronautics engineer. He was awarded a state scholarship for being in top 10% of students by grade. During his studies, Stjepan worked full time in Croatia Airlines flight preparations department which gave him insight into the flight operations aspect of the aviation business.



In 2003, Stjepan worked on mathematical modeling of aircraft performance at the Eurocontrol Experimental Centre in Paris. His professional pilot career started in 2004 and soon after, at the age of 27, he became the youngest captain in the country to fly large passenger jets flying Dubrovnik Airline's MD-80 jets. Together with the aviation career, Stjepan's management and flight operations career also progressed at a high rate. At Dubrovnik Airline's, Stjepan plays a major role in flight operations management, training management and Quality and Safety management. He has completed several Quality and Management trainings and is a consultant for the majority of small Croatian airline operators. He has been called by expert groups in the Civil Aviation Administration, to assist in rewriting duty time and rest period regulations, to assist in design and to flight test special IFR flight procedures for demanding airports, to be a designated aviation security auditor etc. Stjepan also co-owns Pan Aero Services, an aviation consultant company.



As the team leader of Team Stellar, Stjepan's vision is to create an efficient team, process oriented and organized, with strategies, policies, rules and assignments strictly defined. Stjepan believes that his experience as an airline Captain along with his management experience, will be helpful in the creation and management of the team. Stjepan enjoys sailing, scuba diving, basketball, roller blading and flying aircraft models. He actively speaks Croatian, English and Russian languages.


Keith Goeller - Senior Advisor

Robert Brand – Senior Advisor

Robert Brand has a long history with space and the moon. At the age of 17 he wired up much of the video and communications systems in Sydney Australia that brought the world the Apollo 11 video from the moon. Over many years he has been stationed at the Parkes Radio Telescope for NASA’s Voyager encounters with Uranus and Neptune and ESA’s Giotto encounter with Halleys Comet.

In more recent years he has been involved with World Moon Bounce activities using large dishes to bounce signals off the moon and letting children speak to others via this magic media. Robert is involved with amateur built spacecraft and launch systems. His company, PlusComms, is building a Global Deep Space Network using older 30m satellite dishes from around the world. He is a space entrepreneur and has been recently asked to be involved in a mainstream space mission to another body in our solar system (soon to be announced). He had to solve three problems to ensure that the mission could proceed for the submission: the landing method, the radio systems and the position location method on the surface.

Robert is involved in amateur radio and concentrates on the extreme side of radio technology. He is a tireless mentor of students and space. He is also a strong supporter of “Do-It-Yourself Space” talking regularly on TV, radio and conferences.


Jim Wang – Senior Advisor

Jim Wang is an Executive Director at Wang International Consultancy Associates (WICA), with 25 years of professional experience in the areas of satellite communications, antenna designs, hardware delivery, business development, customer interactions, proposal writing, sub-contract management, technical management etc. He made significant contributions to mobile, fixed satellite service, and personal communications payloads for more than 25 satellite programs.

He is a seasoned professional with progressive responsibility in engineering design, project management, and business development who worked with companies like Lockheed Martin Space Systems, Boeing Satellite Systems, L-3 and MDA Space in Canada. Professional experiences cover the whole spectrum of satellite antennas from software simulation, numerical analysis, hardware components, sub-system development, to the design and build of very complex satellite antenna systems such as C&Ku-band FSS/BSS antennas, L & S-band antenna, Ka-band as well as EHF antennas.

He traveled around the world for the technical related issues both for the satellite operators as well as for the satellite manufacturers. Technical expertise includes antenna systems, multiple beam antenna (MBA), shaped beam antenna, reflector antenna, cup dipole antenna, horns, beam forming networks, (high-level/low-level), hybrid matrix networks, Rotman lens beamformer, T&C antenna, DRA phased array antenna, reconfigurable antenna, microstrip arrays, low PIM & high power antenna design/test, spacecraft antenna integration and test.

He received numerous awards from Boeing and Lockheed at corporate level for technical excellence and innovations and holds 5 US patents for innovative satellite antenna design. He also published 20 technical papers in technical journals and IEEE-APS Symposium.

Rocco Carriero – Director of Systems Engineering

Rocco Carriero is a detail-oriented and analytical engineering management professional, with extensive experience in communication systems design engineering, project management, avionics, communication systems analysis, requirements development, technical proposal generation, hardware development and testing. He has established capabilities within defense and commercial communications and sensor technology industries.

He is also a proven success as a team leader, with an ability to direct projects within budget and scope, evaluate processes, seek out and strengthen customer relationships and identify long-lasting solutions. His professional experience includes working for companies like DRS C3 & Aviation Co., L-3 Communications, Avaya Communications, Intel Corporation and Lockheed and Martin.

Raj Sudarsanam – Senior Advisor

Raj Sudarsanam is an independent consultant who worked for companies like Orbital Science, Sierra Nevada Corporation, Lockheed Martin, Intelsat and many more. He was responsible for communications systems and Telemetry, Tracking and Command (TT&C) subsystems design for several communications satellite programs and has extensive experience in the systems test and in-orbit test of conventional and digital payloads.

He also has subcontract management experience which includes specifications generation and end item data reviews for communications receivers, multiplexers, command receivers, telemetry transmitters and TT&C antennas.

He is a co-author of Chapter 9 (in conjunction with contributors from RYMSA Espacio, Spain) on Array Antennas and Low-Gain TT&C Antennas in recently published “Handbook of Reflector Antennas and Feed Systems, Volume II” by Sudhakar Rao, Satish K. Sharma, LotfollahShafail, Artech House, 2013.

John Esposito – Senior Advisor

John A. Esposito Jr is a spacecraft systems engineering-technical leadership and subject matter expert, extensively familiarized with widely diverse technologies including: avionics, mechanisms, guidance-navigation-control, software, power management, thermal control, propulsion and communication.

He managed advanced design and systems development/test groups and has extensive customer experience in the commercial, civil and government sectors like requirements definition, negotiations, project interface and on-orbit operations.

He worked for companies like Lockheed Martin, General Electric and GE Astro Space Group.

Rocket and Launch Division

David Galea - Division leader

David Galea has devoted his entire life to the exploration of science and technology. Since his childhood, David would study the universe through books and telescopes. In college, David built the first school computer in 1982. He then used that same computer to track and communicate telemetry with various satellites to win an award in the Science Talent Search.

His career started when he began working for the largest communications company in Australia (Telstra) to design, build and test what was to be called “The Internet”. He has expertise in Risk Management, Green Data Centers, Information Technology, Project Management, Renewable Energy, Technical Design and Problem Solving.

Wanting to be even more involved in space science, David joined ASRI (Australian Space Research Institute) to assist in the deployment of large rockets from Central Australia in Woomera.

David spent several years with various universities in a consultative role to guide and assist with science projects, I.T. growth and risk mitigation issues.

David has previously taken the role as a Science Teacher at a Government Secondary College in Victoria, Australia. David believes that S.T.E.M. (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) needs a push in local schools and has initiated activities such as Rocketry, Moonbots Robotics Challenge and Formula 1 in Schools as part of the curriculum.

David does not teach for the Income, rather, he teaches for the Outcome. The outcome of his students is paramount. To inspire them to explore what was once impossible and expand their imaginations for their future. David’s current role is an Criminal Intelligence Analyst for a large global security company.

Media Outreach Division

Goran Pirš - Division leader

Media Outreach Division leader
Goran was born in the golden age of human space flight, caught a space-virus glued to the TV-screen as Mercury, Gemini and Apollo crews blasted off where no one had dared before? And returned safely to the good ol' Earth.

After graduating from High School of Applied Arts he studied history, philosophy and journalism at the University of Zagreb. Professional since 1984, he is one of the co-founders of Zagreb's Radio101. Besides, he participated as an outside collaborator, producer, screenwriter, copywriter and marketing advisor to numerous agencies, broadcasting and producing companies.

As an author, co-author and screenwriter he developed a few successful radio and TV-shows, animated or children serials. As a transcreator and creative director he colaborated with Disney company on Croatian adaptation of animated features such as Finding Nemo, Lion King I, II, III, Home on the Range, The Incredibles.

Recently, he is a senior copywriter at TBWA Zagreb and web content editor for London's Apple office. As a Head of Media Outreach, he will coordinate the Team Stellar's media activities.

Goran is a member of Croatian Journalist Society, IFJ (the International Association of Journalists) and HDFD (Croatian Association of Cinematographers).

Arts and CGI Division

Predrag Šuka - Art Director & CGI

Predrag has up to 14 years of experience between photography, design and 3D with the ability to maintain or create the artistic drive, common language in aforesaid fields. Opportunity to be involved in numerous media provided him with an insightful overview for implementation and expansion of art media influence. Driven by opportunities and challenges, high quality standards and the ability to change, grow and develop both business and myself.

Predrag specialties: studio and nature photography; 3D generalist; graphic design; training & teaching

Predrag loves life forever through hard and easy times. He is flying since 13 years of age, unfortunatelly only in virtual flight simulations never in real life - here`s to change.

Communications and Tracking division

Uroš Todorović Mikšaj - Division leader

Communications and Tracking division leader
Uroš Todorović Mikšaj has the academic title Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, course Radio Communication, and he specializes in the areas of radio frequency positioning, navigation and identification, with experience in working with identification systems and design of radio frequency systems.

He is an active member and Chairman of the Board of Astronomical-Astronautical Society Zagreb, where he works as the Head of the astronomy course and field astronomical observations. In Zagreb Observatory he holds popular lectures about the area of satellite navigation systems, aviation and space accidents and stratospheric research.

He is an active paraglide pilot and a founder and president of the aero club Flyway, currently in training for airplane pilot. He is enrolled in postgraduate Studies at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb, where he researches the area of radio frequency positioning.
